Our class is named after Barbara Hepworth, one of Britain’s most famous artists. We have been finding out about her life and works. We also had a go at making our own mini sculptures. Mrs Gates showed us some photos that she took at the Barbara Hepworth Gallery in St Ives.
Who was Barbara Hepworth?
- She was a famous sculptor who made 3D art.
- She used smooth shapes, curves and holes in her work.
- Her art was abstract, using shapes to show feelings instead of real objects.
- She was inspired by things in nature like hills, beaches and the sea.
What is a sculpture?
- It is a 3D artwork with height, width and depth.
- You can walk all the way around it and look at it from different angles.
- It can be made of stone, wood, clay or metal.
